NOUN: -

        In simple words, noun is a part of speech that indicates name of anything.

                    

  Classification of Nouns : -

       There are actually 5 types of nouns -

1. Proper Noun
2. Common Noun
3. Collective Noun
4. Material Noun
5. Abstract Noun

Proper Noun: -

      This kind of nouns indicate a particular persons, places, things or time.

          It should be noted that proper noun starts with capital letter.

Common Noun: -

•  Common Noun refers to the class of persons or things.
• Common Noun generalizes something whereas proper noun particularizes something.
• Common Noun always starts with the small letter if the word is not written at the beginning of a sentence.
• Common Noun can be singular or plural.                 

 Collective Noun: -

       Collective Noun refers to a group of persons or things taken as a whole.

Example: - Class, Family, Team and so on.

Material Noun: -  

              Material Nouns refer to those substances or matter which cannot be counted but measured.

Example: - Water, Iron, Smoke and so on

Abstract Noun: -     

    Abstract noun refers to the name of a quality, action or state.

Example: -     

• Beauty- It suggests quality.
• Movement- It suggests action.
• Childhood- It suggests state.
